Being self-contained, the racks, which cost £2,500, are very easily installed and can be relocated easily to, depending on usage and demand.

They're shaped like a car to show how space-efficient cycling can be, compared to driving, with one car parking space providing storage for ten bikes.

"As part of that, we've invested in new cycling storage that'll be installed in Boston, Gainsborough, Grantham, Holbeach, Lincoln, Skegness, Sleaford and Spalding.

"The emergency active travel fund is just a part of our grand plans for cycling infrastructure in Lincolnshire.

"When it comes to upgrading our cycling infrastructure, having a coordinated approach that allows cyclists to reach more destinations will have the biggest impact on increasing the rate of cycling and take traffic off our roads.

"The second tranche of funding is worth more than £800,000 for Lincolnshire, so there is more scope for ambitious projects on our roads."

The racks have already started being installed around the county however one of the racks in High Street, Holbeach had to be removed as it was taking up vital car parking spaces and businesses in the area complained.
