New family interactive adventure opens at Fantasy Island in Skegness

The evil Professor Crow is alive and well – in spite of our best efforts – and ready to tackle anyone in Fantasy Island’s latest adventure for the summer season.

Harrington Flint’s Island Adventures at the theme park in Ingoldmells revolves around famed explorer and treasure hunter Harrington Flint, who comes face-to-face with his nemesis Professor Crow and is on a mission to raise an ancient Mayan God of War and take over the world.

Only the riders can help Harrington Flint to defeat Professor Crow by fighting off his army of the dead – and that means shooting him and his deadly friends as often as possible.

The ride, which opened to the public on Friday, has been designed by the Mellors Group, the park’s operator, to encompass the Italian courtyard area of the Pyramid.

"The adventure begins here and brings the pyramid alive in a way that has not been explored before,” said James Mellors. “Our other rides are exciting in their own right – and we have new ones to come – but this adventure is set in the pyramid and is themed in a way that takes us in a whole new direction.”

In this brand-new adventure ride, visitors travel in vehicles equipped with shooting devices acquired from a former dark ride in the United Arab Emirates.

As the story unfolds on screens where visitors queue, Harrington Flint makes an appearance to add to the fun.

At the start of the attraction, riders shoot at a sliding door which opens unexpectedly to reveal the rest of the ride, where Professor Crow appears with other along with Mayan zombies for riders to shoot down.

Children of the park’s owners helped design the characters and Archie Mellors, 11, and his sister, Lacey, 13, came to Fantasy Island for the opening and to see how it all came together.

"We really enjoyed it,” said Archie. “When we were designing our character we chose a pirate with a peg leg and we are really pleased with how it turned out,” added Charlie.

One of the most important elements of the ride is that visitors leave wanting more. “It’s great to see,” said James. “You see people coming off the ride talking about their scores and wanting another go. That makes it something different for us.”
