An NHS spokesman has confirmed there is ‘no shortage of the vaccination’, following a booking error which led to some people having their appointments cancelled.

The Leader received a small number of complaints from members of the public yesterday evening and this morning, who said they had been informed that their appointment for a Covid-19 vaccination in Louth had been cancelled due to an apparent shortage in supplies of the vaccination.

However, today (Thursday), an spokesman on behalf of the NHS confirmed that this was not the case.

The spokesman said: “It seems there was an error using the booking system (for the clinic/s) which resulted in a duplication of a clinic.

“When this became clear, patients were contacted and apologised to. In total, less than half a dozen people were affected.

“Additional training has taken place to prevent a repeat. There is no shortage of the vaccination.”

This updates comes just two days after Emmerdale star Patrick Mower, 82, who lives in Louth, had the vaccination and thanked the NHS for their efforts.

Mr Mower said: “Getting my Covid vaccination was incredibly simple and painless.

“I feel incredibly lucky to have had it, and would like to thank all the wonderful NHS staff for making it happen”.

The Louth community site offering the Covid-19 vaccine opened earlier this week, with a similar site opening in Grantham.

Martin Fahy, Director of Nursing and Quality at NHS Lincolnshire CCG, said that patients will be contacted and invited for the vaccination.

He urged people to wait for their invitation, rather than contacting their practice enquiring about vaccination.
