OBITUARY: Retired agricultural engineer dies aged 89
Mr West of Franks Close, Kirton, left school in Market Rasen aged 14 and went to work helping his father in the fields. He was offered a job helping a local blacksmith, which he accepted and continued with until he was called up for National Service at the age of 21.
On completion of his National Service he returned to work for the blacksmith at Legsby. He married June Brader in 1953.

Hide AdHe was later employed as an agricultural engineer at Holton Power Farmers, living in Legsby and then Holton cum Beckering before moving his family to Lissington.
In the mid-1960s he went to work for Bill Rose of Fold Hill, Friskney, and moved with his wife and five children to the east coast village.
A decade later he moved to Kirton, where he was employed as workshop foreman for W Dennis and Sons.
He was widowed in 1990 and remarried four years later.
Last October the devoted family man was surrounded by his children, step-children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, remaining family and friends when he and his wife, Iris, celebrated their silver wedding anniversary.
