Ofsted award Ingoldmells Academy ‘good’ status

A primary school for pupils aged 2 to 11, Ofsted describes it as ‘caring and inclusive’ where ‘everyone is extended a warm welcome as they walk through the door’.

The report states that Ingoldmells Academy has created an environment where respect and kindness are the foundation of all interactions.

It highlights the positive relationships between staff and pupils, stating they ‘have fun together and care for each other’.

An example is given of one pupil who enjoyed telling jokes to his friends and a member of staff as he ate his lunch.

Another pupil is also reported to have said: ‘There are loads of people to comfort you if you are feeling down.’

The school is praised for being aspirational for pupils’ futures. The curriculum is described as ‘broad and balanced’ and ‘designed with the needs of pupils in mind’.

Inspectors saw that ‘pupils’ personal development is prioritised’ and echoed the school’s ambition that every pupil will leave school with a sense of their own self-worth and understanding of their potential.

Early years education at Ingoldmells Academy received particular acclaim, with inspectors commending the school’s extension of provision to two-year-olds and three-year olds, a decision hailed as a ‘resounding success’.

Parental feedback also played a pivotal role in shaping the report’s conclusions. Parents expressed their appreciation of the support the school offers to their children.

One parent’s comment was said to reflect the views of others: ‘I wholeheartedly recommend Ingoldmells to anyone’.

Principal, Neil Mitchell, expressed immense pride in the school’s achievements. He said: “This good Ofsted report is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community.

"We are committed to continuing to provide an exceptional educational experience for all our pupils, where positive relationships foster an atmosphere of respect, kindness, and joy throughout our school.”

Staff are said to ‘speak positively about the opportunities they have as part of the Trust’. Ingoldmells Academy is part of Greenwood Academies Trust which inspectors praised for their ‘on the ground knowledge’ and said to be ‘well placed to offer the right support and challenge when needed’.
