Police seek driver of small black car in Chapel St Leonards crash investigation

It is believed that possibly a BMW X1 or similar vehicle was in the location at the time the Fiat leaving the road and plunging into a waterway around 3.22pm on Monday, February 24.

A statement reads: "We appeal for the driver or occupants to get in touch and emphasis there is no suggestion the vehicle was involved or contributed to this incident."

Twenty-one-year-old India Plaice, and her father, Daniel, who was aged 52, were travelling in the Fiat when the accident happened.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services, a Mr Plaice was pronounced dead at the scene.

His daughter was taken to hospital but later died.
