£3.6m awarded for improvements to Roman Bank in Skegness

Lincolnshire County Council has been  awarded £3.6m towards mprovements to a major coastal road in Skegness

The money for the A52 Roman Bank comes from central government following a successful bid into the Department for Transport's Challenge Fund.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "This is excellent news for Lincolnshire and our beautiful coast.

"Roman Bank is the coast's busiest stretch of road during summer. However, it's currently in desperate need of repair.

"This funding will go towards fully rebuilding a 550-metre section of the road between the A158 and North Shore Road, including new and improved footways and crossings.

"The current plan is to make a start with the work in early September with a view to having it complete the following spring.

"Hopefully, this exciting announcement is the first of many to come for Lincolnshire's roads."
