Yesterday (Wednesday) officers said they have been carrying out regular patrols of all local retail stores to make sure customers were not abusing the limits, staff or fellow customers after a man recently argued with Tesco staff, dropped his trousers and spat over a customer.

Some queuing shoppers at supermarkets had reportedly objected to hard-pressed NHS and key workers getting priority treatment in stores.

Sleaford Police tweeted: “There have been a few disgruntled shoppers, but please bear in mind that all shop staff are working very hard to keep the shelves stocked so you don’t go with out.”

There have been displays of appreciation too.

The Sleaford policing team also tweeted yesterday: “A big thank you to the member of public who left an Easter Egg on one of Sleaford’s response cars! We love this ❤️❤️.”

On Saturday a Ruskington resident left some chocolate on the window of the team’s BMW I3 while they were dealing with some bikes.

“We really appreciate this,” they said.
