The display, to be set on large panels in the church from April 21 to June 21 (her two birthdays), will feature 90 local people and organisations saying a little about themselves and giving birthday messages to the Queen.

These could then be put into a book and sent to Buckingham Palace.

Alison Wickstead, Berol Risdell and Mary Newman are working on the project for the church’s social committee.

Mrs Wickstead said: “There will be nine posters each containing a variety of ages and some organisations will have to share a poster if there are two separate branches in the town, such as Rotary Club, the cubs and scouts, the cadets, brownies and guides.”

The posters will later go to Sleaford Museum for archiving. Sleaford Standard news editor Andy Hubbert will be among the 90 contributors.

Mrs Wickstead said: “People have been very keen and I am trying to get as wide a cross section of Sleaford people as possible.”

Parish councils and other local organisations are also invited to light beacons on April 21 around the country for the birthday celebrations, the first one to be lit by The Queen.
