Louise Vessey, Clinical Manager at Amber Care, has come out on top by winning the award in the category ‘Making a difference through Learning and Development Award’ at the Lincolnshrie Care Awards 2017.

Mrs Vessey was nominated for the award by Managing Director Bronia Johnson for her work at Amber Care.

Mrs Vessey worked hard to complete the Care Certificate - a set of standards that social care and health workers uphold in their daily working life and are minimun standard for new carers.

She has since embedded the Care Certificate into practice at Amber Care, encouraging all staff to embrace the Care Certificate.

Ms Johnson said: “I am thrilled for Louise - but also for the care sector and patients, both of which have benefitted from her work.

“Lousie developed a system to ensure that the Care Certificate is embeded into practice as part of staff development.

“She completed the Care Certificate herself and has delivered training in various ways to staff at all levels and identified further learning requirements throughout the team.

“It’s important that social care is being recognised with awards like this nationally and locally, and needs to work alongside health care to allow people to remain in their homes.”

Since its establishment in September 2013, Amber Care has expanded to form teams covering Brigg and Lincoln who deliver care for 60 health, social and private service users.

Over the course of Amber Care’s existence, staff have delivered care to over 400 clients and patients.

Mrs Vessey herself came to Amber Care in 2014 as a carer after being inspired by care given in the community.

She soon rose in the ranks to the middle management team and is now the Clinical Manager.

She said: “My work is about trying to make caring a profession rather than a job, and implementing a good qualification to bring to caring.”
