Rasen club welcomes back record numbers

With lockdown restrictions still affecting sports, there has never been a better time to dust down the golf clubs and get out on your local course.

And it seems you won’t be alone, with seizing the opportunity to play the game.

Since reopening on May 13, Market Rasen Golf Club has experienced record numbers of people wanting to play the course.

“We have extended our tee times so members can now book a tee time up to 7pm.”

This good news is in contrast to the uncertain times that faced the club on lock down.

Director Pete Bray said: “The lockdown coincided with our annual renewals of membership.

“If members had not renewed, we would have been facing major problems.

“In fact, there was a fantastic response from members, with the vast majority renewing.

“The club has always been an important part of the local community and people wanted to do their bit to ensure it remained so. “

Restrictions are still in place to adhere to the government guidelines on social distancing, but to encourage local people to get fit and active, the club has launched a “taster “membership designed for those who would like to enjoy the course but don’t want to commit to an annual membership.

Pete said: “You pay for a month’s membership which allows you to play afternoon golf for the whole month.

“It’s proving very popular.”
