Members of Market Rasen Rotary have joined forces with Market Rasen Town Council to help improve the environment of the town’s De Aston Field Park.

They have used the chipped remains of more than 80 Christmas trees, collected in the market place back in January, to fill depressions in the grounds.

Rotarians Ronnie Myland and Neil Taylor worked with the town’s deputy mayor, Stephen Bunney, to transport the mulch, in a large trailer supplied by Beltec’s Tony Smith.

The work attracted many positive comments from users of the park and they hope this investment will be followed up with more improvements.

The tree collection service will be returning on Twelfth Night following this Christmas.

However, while the service was free last year, this time round they will be asking for a small donation, which will go to support local charities.
