Not content with taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge, as previously reported, they put their own spin on it.

As well as climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, they decided to cycle between the mountains.

This saw them combine a 470-mile ride with a 26-mile hike – which they completed in five and a half days.

They also managed to raise around £8,000 for their chosen charity, the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance – and the money is still coming in.

Like the while team, Rob Weeks, the main organiser of the event, was delighted to have completed the challenge.

He said: “It was tough – but enjoyable.

“We knew it would be hard, but we didn’t realise quite how hard, but there was a good atmosphere and great team support.”

Dan Quint, James Quible, Rob Weeks, Tim Rinaldi, Richard Hollingsworth and Sam Sweeney joined Rob for the challenge.

They were supported by a back-up team, including physio Emily weeks, who accompanied the team on the peak climbs.

While there were some injuries and sickness along the way, only one team member had to completely drop out mid-route due to illness.

The team cycled and climbed for 12 to 14 hours each day to complete the challenge.

Dan Quint said: “Scafell Pike really hurt everyone, because of the slate, gravel and rock underfoot, making it difficult to get a grip.

“The weather at the peaks was absolutely atrocious.

“We had a mixture of weather for cycling.

“We had a tail wind for a lot of our time, which was lucky, but on the last day we had a head wind, which was really tough.

“After that, I would have been more than happy to throw my bike into a nearby loch!”

The team has been overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have donated to their fundraising page in recognition of their challenge.

The page is still open, with more donations welcome.

Rob added: “We have had hundreds of people support us and we are very grateful to each and every one of them. We are also very grateful to our corporate sponsors, who have made planning for the a lot easier.”

So what is next on the cards for the Tablers?

Dan said: “Some of the guys are talking about doing London to Paris – but that won’t be for another two or three years!”
