'Remembering babies gone too soon': Support available across Lincolnshire at memorial service

East Lincs Sands supports anyone across Lincolnshire affected by the loss of a baby – and a memorial service has been held to remember those little lives lost.

The group offers help not only to parents, but also to grandparents, family members and friends, recognising that baby loss affects whole families.

Support is provided through online meetings via Microsoft Teams, as well as in-person support sessions in Boston, offering safe, welcoming spaces where people can talk, listen, or simply be among others who understand.

As part of its work to raise awareness and provide comfort, East Lincs Sands will begin 2026 with its Annual Baby Loss Memorial Service.

The service was held on Saturday, February 1, at Holy Trinity Church on Spilsby Road, Boston.

Families had the opportunity to remember babies gone too soon, say their names, and light a candle in their memory.

Refreshments wete served afterwards, with the chance to speak to Sands befrienders and meet other families affected by baby loss. Information about Sands and its services will also be available.

The group’s first online support meeting of the year will take place on Tuesday, February 10, at 7pm.

Anyone wishing to take part can contact the East Lincs Sands team via their Facebook page, email [email protected], or call the Sands helpline.

Face-to-face meetings will resume in March at a new venue, with Boston United Football Club kindly offering the use of one of its hospitality rooms. The first session will be held on Thursday, March 26, starting at 7.15pm.

East Lincs Sands says its aim is to ensure that no one has to walk through baby loss alone, offering understanding, compassion and support to those who need it most.
