Traditional services and parades were banned, because of the national lockdown restrictions in place due to the coronavirus crisis.
However, whether it was socially distanced gatherings of veterans, or families stood outside their front doors, the message was clear - thank you.
Several organisations arranged for wreaths to be placed inside St James’ Church, where the Mayor of Louth, Councillor Darren Hobson, placed a wreath alongside others on Saturday.
The following morning, on Remembrance Sunday, the Mayor placed a wreath at the War Memorial at an informal commemorative event.
Louth Town Council has produced a video, including footage and photographs of the Remembrance Sunday, VE Day, and VJ Day commemorations.
This video can be found at https://youtu.be/gfpqEWdsJWc.
Many villages in our area marked the commemoration in their own ways - such as Great Carlton and Binbrook - and we thank those who sent photos in for publication.
• Pick up a copy of this week’s Louth Leader for more photographs from the commemorations.
