It was the start of the first national lockdown.

Both brothers are chefs and found themselves out of jobs as pubs and restaurants were forced to close.

They decided to launch their own takeaway business: Red Dog’s Grill.

Twelve months on and they are the proud owners of three premises.

The first was in Alford, the second in Skegness and the latest in Horncastle opened just over a week ago.

Already, it has proved to be a success Even before opening, the orders were pouring in – so much so that they ran out of menus!

Ross explained: “The last 12 months have been amazing and we never ever expected to own three takeaways.

“We were sat on the sofa, wondering what to do.

“We had good jobs but when lockdown came in, there were no details about when we might start working again.

“We decided on the idea of the takeaway.

“Some people thought we were crazy – because of the lockdown– but the whole thing has just taken off.”

From Alford, the brothers delivered to Horncastle and knew there was a big demand for their food .

Ross explained: “It all started when we did barbecues at Harpar’s Bar (in Horncastle).

“They went down well and with the locals we said it would be great one day to open something in Horncastle.

“The response has been brilliant. People are saying great things about our food and while there are other takeaways in town, we think there’s a market for what we’re offering.”

So what’s next? Ross added: “We didn’t know if one would be a success so we’re more than happy with three!”

Red Dog’s Grill offers a big variety of food from hot dogs to ribs, wings and grilled chicken.

Ross advises people to book slots well in advance – particularly at weekends.

The brothers are currently looking to recruit staff - including chefs.

Full details of jobs and how to apply are available on the red dog grill’s facebook page.

It also includes menus and details of opening times.

The phone number for anyone wanting to order food from the Horncastle takeaway is 07753147597.
