Sandra’s ‘shear delight’ after fundraising for cancer charity

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, owners Sandra and Ian Scaman had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

The annual event has raised funds for Marie Curie Lincolnshire for the past four years and has raised to over £12,000 – and Sandra decided it did not feel right to halt fundraising this year, and so decided she would raise funds some other way.

Sandra said: “Last year my husband sheared his beard off so this year I decided to shear my head to help Marie Curie during a difficult time of fundraising. I have managed to raise £2,800”.

The money raised from Sandra’s crop has paid for a further 140 hours of night-time nursing within the county for terminal illness patients within their homes, meaning that patients are given the opportunity to stay at home with their loved ones and surroundings by their favourite things.

Lauren Alexander-Lee, community fundraiser for Marie Curie Lincolnshire, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Sandra for her ‘shear’ braveness of shearing her hair off in aid of us.

“Over the past few months, we have seen a significant increase of demand on our services as people are fearful to go into a hospital setting so the sponsorship raised has allowed people to remain at home during their last few days. We are grateful to each and every person who sponsored Sandra too”.
