Santa sleighs and station smiles help firefighters smash fundraising record

Lincolnshire’s firefighters have once again proved they’re heroes both on and off duty – raising a record-breaking £34,088.38 through their Christmas fundraising events.

From Santa sleigh rides and festive grottos to welcoming families at station open days, crews across the county brought seasonal cheer to their communities – all while collecting vital funds for charity.

The final total means they have beaten the previous year’s record by more than £1,500, despite 2024 already being a landmark year for fundraising.

Coun Alex McGonigle, executive councillor for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said he could not be prouder of the teams involved.

“Simply put, they’ve all done a fantastic job,” he said.

“2024 was a record-breaking year itself, so to pass that mark so quickly really goes to show how our teams go all out to make this a highlight of the year for their communities.

“A massive thank you to everyone who’s put in the work behind the scenes to make these events possible, and an even bigger thank you to everyone who’s supported our crews, whether that’s through donations or cheering them on. It’s all for worthy causes, and it really does make a difference.”

The majority of the funds raised will go to the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports serving and retired firefighters and their families when they need it most.

Year after year, Lincolnshire’s firefighters continue to show that their commitment to protecting the public extends far beyond the call of duty.
