Bill and Dorrie Tebb, of Westgate Park, marked their 65th year of marriage with a meal at home last Thursday.

The couple were married on December 17, 1955 and Bill said: “We cannot do much to celebrate at the moment - I wish we could. But we are going to wait until this blows over and we can go out for a family meal.

“It is disappointing but we had a big party for our golden wedding.

“We have told the kids unless we can eat it or drink we don’t need any presents, but we are looking forward to our 70th - it’s only another five years!”

They have had to give up some of their pastimes due to ill health. They go for walks but talented Dorrie has missed singing in public due to the restrictions.

Dorrie, 89, met Bill, 87, when she moved to Fulbeck in 1954, his home village. He is a retired builder and they married at Grantham Register Office.

Bill was a member of the village football team and had a visit from his team mates on the wedding day. He said: “We were boiling eggs for the salad and they burned dry in the saucepan and exploded all over the ceiling.”

They lived in Fulbeck for most of their lives, moving to Leasingham and then Sleaford.

Dorrie ran the Fulbeck Post Office for 28 years and then they ran an award-winning bed and breakfast guest house for 10 years.

They have four children between them, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
