Schools in Gainsborough welcomed back pupils

It was the end of months of homeschooling on Monday, March 8, as schools across the country welcomed back all of their pupils following the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.

St. George’s CE Community Primary School in Lindsey Close, Gainsborough marked the occasion with a special ‘Rainbow’ event.

A post on the school’s Facebook page on Sunday, March 7, said: “It’s nearly time. Tomorrow we will have everybody back at school and we cannot wait.

“We have named tomorrow, “Rainbow Day” as the rainbow is our symbol for family and tomorrow the St. George’s family will be complete once more.

“Safety is extremely important to us, so we have lots of safety measures in place in and around school. We really do hope that parents can play their parts in keeping us all safe, too. Please remind yourselves of our parent rules. These are government rules.”

The school also held a special lunch for all its pupils.

Anna Leng, headteacher at The Gainsborough Academy, said: “As a full staffing body we are so happy to have the academy alive and vibrant with students returning very eager to learn.

"I am so very proud of all my staff who have risen to the challenge of providing live remote education that mirrored in school timetables and are continuing to adapt to this ever changing epidemic.”

In a letter sent to the parents of pupils at The Gainsborough Parish Church C.E. Primary School in Acland Street, Gainsborough, headteacher Rachael Eastham, said: “We are here to help and we will do our very best to support our families as we transition back to full school opening.

“The team here at Parish, cannot thank the community enough for the support during the past three months and the tremendous hard work undertaken by parents and carers to ensure all of our pupils have been given the best experience possible whilst home learning or continuing to attend school.

"You have all been amazing.”

A tweet from Queen Elizabeth’s High School Drama and Performing Arts department said: “Cannot wait to welcome back our students, so much to look forward to.

"New sound studio, new lighting rig and rehearsals for assessments in Scriptwork, Musical Theatre and Practitioner Exploration resume with face to face teaching.

“Looking forward to finally performing again.”
