An NHS Trust that runs community hospitals in Louth, Skegness, Gainsborough and Spalding has confirmed several cases of coronavirus at their hospitals.

The LCHS (Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust) responded to a enquiry made by this newspaper over the weekend, following claims from several sources that there have been a number of positive cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) at Louth County Hospital in recent days.

While the spokesman did not confirm the specific location or number of patients, they did confirm that several cases had been dealt with at their hospitals.

The LCHS spokesman said: “We can confirm that we have a number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in our hospitals.

“Our staff caring for the patients are trained and equipped to do so safely.

“LCHS has four community hospitals. They are County Hospital, Louth; John Coupland Hospital in Gainsborough; Johnson Community Hospital in Spalding; and Skegness Hospital.

“In line with NHS England guidelines, I am not in a position to confirm either the numbers of patients or their locations.

“We would encourage people to visit www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ for the latest information on COVID-19, to find out what the symptoms are and how to help prevent the spread.”
