Skegness Academy recognised with Rainbow Flag Award for inclusionSkegness Academy recognised with Rainbow Flag Award for inclusion
Skegness Academy has been recognised for its commitment to equality and inclusion after being awarded the nationally recognised Rainbow Flag Award.
The award is a quality assurance framework for schools that promotes positive LGBTQ+ inclusion and visibility across all areas of school life. It recognises efforts to create a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of background or identity.
Staff at the academy say the recognition reflects ongoing work to embed inclusive practices within school policies, the curriculum and the wider culture of the school community.
The achievement was supported by the work of Mrs Coates-Metheringham, senior assistant principal and SENDCO, alongside English teacher Miss Coddington and PSHE teacher Miss Mitchell, who helped lead the initiative within the school.
Principal Mr Gissendorf said the award was something the whole academy community could be proud of.
“We are incredibly proud to receive the Rainbow Flag Award. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to our core values of gratitude, personal responsibility, excellence and respect,” he said.
“At Skegness Academy, we believe that every young person deserves to feel seen, valued and supported. By fostering an inclusive and respectful environment, we are putting every student on the path to a happy, successful and fulfilling life.”
The academy said the award highlights its continued focus on championing equality and celebrating diversity, while helping to create a culture where all students feel confident, supported and able to achieve their potential.
