Skegness couple’s marriage turns to sapphire
A celebration 65 years in the making has taken place at a Skegness care home.
Barry and Audrey Bird, of Sutton Court, have recently reached their 65th or sapphire wedding anniversary.
The couple married when they were both aged 21.
The ceremony took place at the Methodist Chapel, in Loughborough, on September 15, 1956.
They have two children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The couple said the secret to a lasting marriage was being there for each other, no matter what happens in life.
