Skegness Grammar School evacuated due to false alarm

Students and staff were quick to evacuate Skegness Grammar School when a fire alarm was sounded shortly before the end of the day's classes.

One Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue crew rushed to respond to the call this afternoon (Tuesday)..

However, firefighters soon left after the building was given the all-clear and it was confirmed to have been a false alarm and not a drill.

Students were kept outside, with some later being allowed to return to the building to collect belongings and then go home.

One student described the incident as ‘very dramatic and unexpected.’

"Staff and students kept calm, but we weren’t really informed about what was actually happening. Some students missed their busses home," the stident commented

It is believed that no one has been injured because of this incident and that all staff and pupils are safe.

No smoke could be seen coming from the building.

Overall, the incident lasted around 20 minutes.
