Led by photographer Sharon Mallinson, it describes itself as being on a ‘mission to help women overcome body confidence issues of all types’.

In that spirit comes the 50 Over 50 Project.

“Women over 50 are overlooked by the media, and I am passionate about changing that,” Sharon said. “As a woman over 50 myself, we want more visibility – not to be treated as though our lives are all about dentures and funeral plans!

“We work hard supporting elderly parents, our children and, increasingly, with the childcare of our grandchildren – particularly over the last year.

“Now it’s time for these women to be recognized and celebrated.”

With the 50 Over 50 Project, Sharon intends to not just to photograph the 50 women taking part, but interview them too, culminating in a local exhibition of their images and stories, later in the year.

“It’s hugely important to give these women, women just like me, a voice and a presence in the media, and this will be a great start,” said Sharon. “The exhibition will celebrate the ‘joie de vivre’ of women over 50.”

Shoots will start from May, the business says, and continue until December.
