Sunshine and smiles as SO Festival brings creativity to Skegness coast

Crowds flocked to the coast as the sun finally came out to provide the perfect backdrop for many of this year's SO Festival events.

Visitors of all ages enjoyed a packed programme of performances, workshops and family activities as the annual arts festival returned to Skegness and Mablethorpe over the weekend, transforming locations around the the resorts into vibrant spaces filled with music, creativity and entertainment.

Performers from across the UK and overseas delighted audiences in Skegness throughout Saturday, while families took advantage of a range of free activities designed to encourage participation and exploration.

The festival once again celebrated local talent through its popular Made in Lincolnshire programme, showcasing artists, performers and creatives from across the county alongside national and international acts.

Young people enjoyed opportunities to get active through sports activities and workshops, while others tried their hand at circus skills and creative experiences taking place throughout the town.

Visitors were also able to discover Audio Tales, a unique self-guided trail featuring stories inspired by Lincolnshire and created by local writers, musicians, performers and illustrators.

Families made the most of the attractions on offer, including free activity sheets and games, while many stopped for photographs beside the festival's giant deckchair, which once again proved a popular feature.

The festival atmosphere was helped by warm weather throughout much of the day, with residents and visitors enjoying the opportunity to experience a wide variety of free arts and cultural activities in the heart of the seaside resort.

SO Festival continued on Sunday with a programme of performances and activities in Mablethorpe, bringing the weekend celebration to a close and once again highlighting the important role arts and culture play in communities along the Lincolnshire coast.

Organisers have thanked everyone who attended, performed and supported the event, which remains one of the largest cultural festivals in the region and continues to attract audiences from across Lincolnshire and beyond.
