Ten-year-old girl takes on walking challenge for the Ark

A 10-year-old Louth girl will be taking on a lengthy walking challenge later this month, in a bid to raise funds and donations for the Ark Animal Rescue and Retirement Home in North Somercotes.

Roxii will be walking from Louth to Belchford next Saturday (March 27).

Roxii Emmerson, a Year Five pupil at Lacey Gardens Junior Academy, will be walking from Louth to Belchford on Saturday March 27, a hilly walk with a distance of almost 11 miles.

Roxii was saddened to hear about the Ark’s struggles during the pandemic, and decided that she would do something to try to help the animals.

Roxii’s mum, Amy, said: “She has family [in Belchford] and has often thought of walking that way, so she thought she would do it and try to make a difference at the same time. Her mum and dad are always proud of how much she wants to help others, and what better way than supporting a local cause.”

Roxii will be walking from Louth to Belchford next Saturday (March 27).

Roxii hopes to raise at least £350 for the Ark, and she has already raised more than £270 at the time of going to press.

Donations can be made through her fundraising page, which can be found at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/amy-drewery-2.

Roxii is also hoping to take some item donations to the Ark on March 28, so email [email protected] if you have any items for Roxii and Amy to collect.
