For the past few years Jennie Fox has been running popular ‘pop-up’ tea rooms in locations around Lincolnshire.

But now the baker extraordinaire has secured a permanent home and is set to open The Vintage Tearooms in Tealby’s Front Street.

Jennie is in the process of renovating the building and looks set to be open for business in just a few weeks.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to have a tea room and have looked at buying a tea room in Tealby for a number of years, but for one reason or another, it’s not happened.

“I just love the village and felt it was an ideal place for the sort of thing I do.

“Although I loved doing the pop-up tea rooms, because we were in a different place all the time, it was hard moving all the stuff around - we took all our vintage china with us.

“It was heavy work.

“I’m looking forward to just serving the customers rather than spending several hours a day moving boxes around.

“I can’t wait to get it open.”

The building, which has been vacant for several years, is being refurbished by Jennie’s husband as well as a team of workmen.

The Vintage Tearooms will be split over two floors - downstairs will be casual and walker-friendly, while upstairs will be more old-fashioned, with dark furniture, vintage photos and tablecloths.

And Jennie has purchased huge high-back armchairs to go in the window, with views over the Lincolnshire
Wolds.

The Vintage Tearooms will serve light lunch, afternoon tea and cakes - all homemade by Jennie.

She said: “Baking is what’s inspired me to want to do this.”

Jennie’s cakes include flavours such as coffee and red berry velvet, with chocolate orange, carrot and Bakewell tart being some of the most popular.

Jennie’s pop-up tea rooms started with just two planned events - in Holton le Moor and Walesby.

But her business soon grew and Jennie found herself in demand, putting on pop-up tea rooms across the county - and even making bookings for weddings and private functions.

The Vintage Tearooms will be open Wednesday to Friday from 10.30am until 4pm and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays from 10am until 4.30pm.
