'There is much to cheer': New Year message from the Mayor of Spilsby

As this turbulent year draws to a close, it is clear that Covid-19 has affected our lives in lots of different ways, families have had to isolate themselves from each other, loved ones have been lost and our heartfelt thoughts go out to them.

Fortunately, there has also been much to cheer. Here in Spilsby, as soon as restrictions were announced, we put out a plea for volunteers to assist vulnerable residents, fetching their shopping, picking up prescriptions and sometimes just chatting and reassuring them.

Community groups assisted too, by providing food banks for people who were unable to work and others suffering mentally because of their situation.

Now, as the New Year approaches and the role out of vaccinations have commenced, it would be encouraging to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel and I am hopeful this is the case.

So, on behalf of Spilsby Town Council, to all our residents and beyond, we send our best wishesfor a happy and hopeful New Year.
