Staff at The Admiral Rodney Hotel in Horncastle have been handed a timely tonic – an in-house training scheme which will allow them to progress their careers.

The hotel is part of the Coaching Inn Group which has launched an innovative new training and development programme, together with a purpose built unique accompanying app.

Like most hotels, The Admiral Rodney has been badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic but the training could give staff the chance to progress all the way to a senior management position.

The company’s Head of Learning and Development Lee Melton, said: “We have redesigned all of our development programmes to ensure they are suited to the current hospitality climate, and focus on the core skills needed for a learner to be able to further their career.

“The app will enable the learner and his or her manager to be in complete control of their development programme.

“It is also structured to promote peer-to-peer learning and will give every member of the Horncastle team, who embarks on the programme, complete confidence over their progression.

“At a time when the hospitality industry is being hit hard, it is important to focus on the people that work with us, and promoting internal progression has always been one of our strengths.”

Mr Melton added there were no time limits on any of the five stages from leading a shift through to operational management and strategic planning.

That means individuals can progress at their own pace and each programme could be tailored to each learner’s needs.

He said: “We have always lived by the phrase ‘Unlocking Potential’, with a proud focus towards people.

“The launch of the new programmes and the app is our next stage in career progression.”
