Trustees opt to keep park fitness suite closed for now

Trustees of Woodhall Spa’s Jubilee Park have decided not to open their gym and fitness suite immediately after lockdown - but will review their decision on December 16.

The suite - described as a potential lifeline for the park’s future - was launched earlier this year to much acclaim.

However, it has been hit by two national lockdowns and restrictions.

Even though Woodhall Spa is in tier 3 of the latest lockdown, the fitness suite could have opened.

However, trustee Jon Finley said: “Having given a great deal of consideration to the safety of our staff, reviewed members responses to a survey, assessed the commercial implications of opening in the current environment and considered the overall impact of Covid-19 in the local community, we have decided that unfortunately it is not right for us to re-open the Fitness Suite just yet.

“We will continue to review this in line with the Government’s tier reviews and look forward to welcoming our members and visitors back when it is more appropriate.”

Mr Finley added trustees were appreciative of the support of the local community during ‘a very difficult year.’

He said: “Being a charity, we haven’t taken this decision lightly but feel it is the most responsible course of action.”
