Unsung heroes from Mablethorpe win awards for 'kindness and determination'
Two residents of Mablethorpe have been hailed unsung heroes after winning community awards at an event run by a dynamic charity.
The Inspiring Communities Awards, overseen by the Acis Group, shone a spotlight on people whose kindness, determination, resilience or commitment to others have helped change lives across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.
And from more than 30 nominations submitted by members of the public, two of the nine winners were David Herbert and Jayne Faulkner, who live in Mablethorpe.
David landed the act of kindness award after being recognised for “the compassion and generosity he shows to people and causes in need”.

An Acis Group spokesperson said: “Through supporting people experiencing homelessness, charitable giving and fostering and rehoming dogs, his everyday kindness has had a profound impact on the lives of others.”
Jayne received the living well award, which was given for her “determination to continue pushing forward despite significant life challenges”.
An Acis spokesperson said: “Her positive outlook, courage and willingness to embrace new opportunities have inspired others to focus on their own health, wellbeing and independence.”
The Acis Group, which is based in Gainsborough, supports people through services that focus on housing, by providing good-quality, affordable homes, and on education, training, jobs, skills and wellbeing.
After the awards event, chief executive Greg Bacon beamed: “What an incredible and humbling evening!
"Our winners represent the best of our communities, and it was a privilege to host these awards and publicly honour them and their achievements.
"They are people who have made a genuine difference to the lives of others and whose actions inspire those around them.
"We were overwhelmed by the quality of nominations, and every winner should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”
The winners were selected by an independent judging panel, and four others came from Gainsborough.
They were John and Carolyn Lyden, who took the champion award for their involvement with a Men’s Shed initiative; Leon McCulla, who won the volunteer award; Zoe Byrne, the winner of the new beginnings award; and Joann Collins, who received the impact award for supporting vulnerable young people.
