Volunteers wanted for archaeological dig in Boston as part of multi-million pound regeneration plans
Volunteers are wanted for an archaeological dig set to take place in Boston.
The excavation is being held as part of the proposed Rosegarth Square project, which aims to revitalise and re-purpose the area between the River Haven and the bus station.
The vision – which includes a new sensory garden and amphitheatre-style seating area – is being brought about thanks to £14.8 million of Levelling Up money secured by Boston Borough Council.
In preparation for the proposed improvements, Rocket Environmental Services has been appointed to carry out archaeological work at the site.

The County Durham-based business will begin with general surveys, before commencing a two-week community archaeological dig to learn more about the history of the area.
The excavation will run from Saturday, October 19, to Saturday, November 2, and volunteers are requested.
Natasha Powers, operations director from Rocket Environmental Services, said: “We are excited to be able to design and undertake this project and we hope that it will encourage people to find out more about both the history of Rosegarth Square and the plans for its future.”
Members of the public are also being encouraged to share their knowledge of the site’s history or interesting facts connected to it.
Schools are also being invited to take part in outreach activities and workshops, which are being designed to align with the curriculum.
Coun Anne Dorrian, leader of Boston Borough Council, said: “The council is thrilled to embark on this archaeological journey at Rosegarth Square. This project not only aims to uncover the rich history of our town, but also brings our community together in a meaningful way.
“By involving local residents and schools, we are keen to foster a deeper connection to our heritage and provide a unique educational opportunity.
“I encourage everyone to participate and share their knowledge, as we work together to reveal the fascinating stories hidden beneath our feet.”
