Phoenix Singers in Louth present cheque of £1,0000

Members of The Phoenix Singers handed over a cheque for £1,000 to members of the palliative care nursing team, at their summer concert in Louth Methodist Church.

The money had been raised by the choir, based in Fotherby, throughout the year.

“We always choose a local charity to support,” said the choir’s chairman Melanie Drewery.

“Last year, we chose to support Macmillan, but wanted to make sure the money was spent in our community, so that is what we have done through the palliative care nurses.”

Nurse Helen Wright was delighted to collect the cheque.

“We are very grateful to the choir and the money will fund those extra bits for our patients, like memory boxes.”

The choir’s chosen charity for the coming year is Grimsby Women’s Aid.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the past year and look forward to welcoming everyone to our forthcoming concerts,” added Melanie.

They will be at Halton Holegate Methodist Church on July 8 and Coningsby Methodist Church, July 16.
