Photo call at Kelstern

Many village schools have closed over the years and this picture shows just one of them.

Taken just after the start of term in 1929, it shows pupils at Kelstern Church of England School.

The picture was leant to us by Market Rasen resident Jo Drake, who believes one of her great-uncles, either Frank or Stan Askew, may be in it.

The school was built in 1861 as a parochial school, and was closed on April 10, 1963, with the children being transferred to Louth St Michael’s CE School.
