The day, organised by Boston Borough Council and supported by the NFU, saw a host of stalls and machinery on display for people to look around.

Children enjoyed the free ‘Let’s Talk Farming’ goody-bags, filled with fun items which help to teach children about food and farming.

There were various other attractions on the day, such as vintage and modern tractors which children (and adults) could sit on, a family crafts stand and potato-head and cabbage bowling competitions. Children also had the opportunity to enter their primary school for the Vegetable Craft Competition for the chance to win £100 prize, donated by Staples Vegetables.

The Mayor of Boston, Coun Stephen Woodliffe, and the Mayoress Catharine Woodliffe showed their support by turning out for the event.

NFU group secretary for Boston and Wainfleet Alister Green said: “Farming is a key industry in Boston and surrounding area and this event was a chance to celebrate our local farming heritage and rural community.

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to attend and support this family event; I feel it’s important to showcase how strong our farming heritage is.”

There are plans in the pipeline for a similar event next year.
