PICTURES: 100,000 lights and a disco ball brighten up Brodsworth Christmas

From today, Friday December 16, the mature gardens will be juxtaposed with modern lights showing off the beautiful acreage in a new and unusual way. One hundred thousand LED lights and a one metre in diameter disco ball will form part of the installation.

From Friday 16 December, the gardens at Brodsworth hall will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Illuminated trails will see trees, canopies and iconic garden features bought to life through magnificent light and shadow displays. Victorian characters can be found along the route and Father Christmas will be regaling families with yuletide tales, gifts and the opportunity to have a photograph with him.

Brodsworth Hall is surrounded by pleasure gardens extending to over 15 acres. These were laid out in the 1860s to provide a formal setting for the house, and grounds that held plenty of interest and variety for the enjoyment of the family and guests. The gardens had become very overgrown by 1990, but their original structure survived and English Heritage were able to undertake careful restoration, aiming to recapture the original spirit of the gardens.

There’s a lot going on with a trail to wander and parts of the garden magnificently lit up. We’ve got hot chocolate, mulled wine, mince pies and a festive barbeque. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment as tickets are selling fast.”
