The popular exhibition, which has now been running for five years, took place on Wednesday, October 21, 10am-3pm.

New and existing firms were able to get advice from experts from a variety of fields, including former Worksop market trader and Dragons’ Den star Dan Cluderay.

The founder of Approved Food, which sells food and drink items online that are past their ‘best before date’, made the finals of Richard Branson’s national Pitch to Rich competition, in which the winners had the chance to get a slice of £1million prize money.

A spokesman for the North Nottinghamshire Business Connections said: “This annual show allows local people to gain access to professional guidance and expert advice to help them through the maze of new rules, regulation and taxation, and importantly to ease confusion giving them peace of mind.

“Many of the exhibitors specialise in helping firms to save money and maximise growth whilst others can help to minimise the impact of the new rules on their hard earned profits.”

Nominations are also now been taken for the North Nottinghamshire Business Awards - with a number of Worksop and Retford businesses making the list.

Businesses up for the best guest experience honour include: BroomWagon Vélo Café, Retford; The Opera Tea Rooms, Retford; The Pheasantry Brewery, East Markham and The Blue Bell, Ranskill.

Nominees for the best independent retailer include: New Focus Photography, Worksop; The Craft Shop, Retford; The Good Health Boutique, Retford; Kustom Lab, Retford; NDR Photographer, Tuxford; My Little Cottage, Retford; Fuse Fireworks, Retford; Pure Photography, Retford; and The Bridleway & Gauntleys, Dunham-on-Trent.

Best tourist attraction candidates include: Laser Labyrinth, Worksop; West Street Galleries, Retford; and Bassetlaw Museum, Retford.

And nominees for the best artisan food and drink producers include: The Chocolate Kitchen, Retford; Double Top Brewery, Worksop; Stichelton Dairy, Welbeck; and The Swoon Bakery, Retford.

Last year, Worksop-based snack firm Karkli, which was started by Gateford entrepreneur Kumar Kolar, picked up the new business award, while Bread & Roses café and caterers, Bridge Street, Worksop, was named the social enterprise of the year.
