Pioneering town firm scoops win

A PIONEERING local firm is celebrating after being awarded Business of the Year at the recent Gainsborough Business Awards.

Earlier this month, the town saw a black tie ceremony at the White Heather near Caenby Corner - featuring a special guest appearance from TV’s Stuart Baggs.

Among the local talent that was celebrated, Gainsborough exhaust and emissions specialist Eminox took home the prize for Business of the Year.

The company is a leading European supplier of heavy duty diesel emission systems for trucks and buses - and in 2011 alone Eminox has created over 50 new jobs in Gainsborough, and expects to achieve a record turnover of more than £40 million.

The company puts its success down to product innovation and a commitment to quality that has helped Eminox to win business with some of Europe’s largest vehicle manufacturers.

“This award is a fantastic achievement for the company and is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our employees,” said Eminox managing director David Ripley.

“This award is for 32 years of company development and growth. It happens to come at a very good point in time, but the background of this is based on the philosophy of Eminox which is for a lot of investment in people and having a high quality and innovative product.”

He continued: “There has been continuous growth. While there will always been ups and downs, we’ve done very well and the local workforce have been quite flexible, helpful and responsive to change and growth.”

“The company is growing and we need to recruit more good people, especially in skills like welding and engineering.”

David added: “This award for the astounding contribution from everyone throughout the organisation.”

Eminox marketing manager Kathye Henderson was also delighted with the result.

“This is really great, particularly because there last year different parts of our business were recognised, but this runs across the company and reflects the contribution that everyone has put in during what has been a fantastic year for us,” she said.

Kathye added: “We place a lot of value on the people we employ from the area, and this is a fantastic achievement in realising our long-term success as we hope to expand much further in 2012.”

lKeep an eye on the Standard as we’ll be featuring all of the winners from this year’s Gainsborough Business Awards in the coming weeks.
