Plans are well underway for this year's Colour Dash for St Barnabas Hospice

In response to the launch of this year’s Colour Dash, St Barnabas Hospice has seen an excellent response in sign-ups, and is hopeful it will be a record breaking year.

The popular 5k Colour Dash will once again be held at the Lincolnshire Showground on Saturday, May 13, and is open to anyone aged five and over (under 16s to be accompanied by a paying adult).

The Colour Dash is a 5k route dotted with various coloured paint stations, ensuring participants get sprayed with environmentally friendly powder at every kilometre.

Participants can run, walk or dance the route to raise money to get fit or in honour of a loved one.

Becky Otter, Event Manager for St Barnabas Hospice, said: “Colour Dash is for all ages and abilities, and you certainly don’t need to be an athlete to take part.

“Many participants choose to take part in memory of a loved one, and it is lovely to see so many people coming together and celebrating the lives of those they love.

“It’s a great way to give something back to St Barnabas whilst having fun at the same time.”

To book a place at the Colour Dash, it will cost only £20 for adults, £10 for children and £50 for a family ticket. There is also the opportunity to book a stall at £100 for the event.

Included in the registration fee is a fundraising pack, neon sunglasses, a bottle of water, a poncho and a commemorative medal.

Natalie Morley, aged 33, is taking part in this year’s run.

She said: “My son, aged 14, and I are using the Colour Dash to keep Grandad’s memory alive.

“I hope that Grandad would be proud of us for doing this, as not only do we take part to raise money, we also enjoy celebrating Grandad and everything he was to us all.

“There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think of him, but when we’re running it’s fun and we have nothing but smiles for him.”

And Jill Wilksinson is making the effort to travel up from Devon to take part.

Jill, 56, said: “I’m really looking forward to sharing Dad’s memory with others, and talking to people who have been through the same thing.

“I’m taking part together with a group of friends, and we hope to raise more than £500 for the Hospice.”
