Playgroup goes from strength to strength

Following last week's nostalgia photograph from 1994 of Jacdor Playgroup, we have discovered that the playgroup is still very much in business and is going from strength to strength.

Thanks to support from local councillors and other friends of the school at the time, funding was found to purchase the site from Lincolnshire County Council and carry out extensive work on the building.

Many of the staff that were working at the playgroup in 1994 are still there now.

Originally called the Tom Thumb nursery, and then Jacdor when taken over by Jackie Cottingham and Dot Mablethorpe in the 1990s, the nursery was renamed Jacdor Community Pre-school. It was registered as such with Ofsted in 1994 and, two years later, with the Charity Commission as a registered charity.

When a new voluntary management committee took over the running of Jacdor in 2011, further improvements were carried out to the property.

There are plans to extend the building in the future.
