Poachers on the increase in the Isle

During the past week officers have seen a distinct rise in the number of calls regarding this offence.

A spokesman said: “Calls are being received of males seen with dogs on farmers land. These calls are occurring late evening and early morning.

“The Local Neighbourhood Team are asking farmers and landowners to be extra vigilant with regards to the above incidents and if any suspicious persons/vehicles are seen in their area please note their descriptions and registration numbers and contact Humberside Police immediately on telephone number 101 or if any crime is being committed at the time then ring 999.”

Also within the last week there has been an increase in motor vehicles being broken into in the Crowle area.

The spokesman explained: “An adult male was seen leaning into one such vehicle. Electrical equipment such as sat nav devices are being taken. We are asking residents of Crowle to be extremely careful when locking up their vehicles and remove any valuable items.”

* A Section 59 warning under the Road Traffic Act was issued this week in the Westwoodside area. The male driver was given this warning regarding his manner of driving.

* Police will also be in attendance at this year Bonfire Night at Epworth Showground on Saturday November 8.

Gates open at 4.30pm and close at 9pm. The fire will be lit at 6pm with the fireworks display starting at 6.45 pm.

Admission if £5 for adults and £2 for children.

Parking is free and there will be food stalls and a bar, children’s entertainment and rides. No sparklers allowed.
