Poignant Poppy Appeal launch

The 2015 Royal British Legion Lincolnshire Poppy Appeal was launched with all due ceremony at the Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby.

This year the person given the honour of starting the appeal was the Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Rev Christopher Lowson.

The numbers attending the ceremony this time was even higher than last year, easily packing half the floor space of the great Lancaster hangar.

Once more the martial music was provided by the Mareham le Fen Victory Silver Band.

One of the most poignant moments was when the Standards were dipped and the parade came to the salute as the Last Post echoed round the mighty hangar.
