Police appeal after motorcyclist injured in Dinnington crash

Police are appealing for information after a crash in Dinnington that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

At around 5.10pm on Wednesday a blue Citroen C2, driven by a 30-year-old woman from Anston, was waiting at the junction of Kieran Close, next to Murphy’s Depot, to turn right onto Rotherham Road in Dinnington.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “It is believed that a blue Yamaha YBR125 motorcycle, ridden by an 18-year-old man from Retford, was travelling along Rotherham Road towards Outgang Lane, behind a red Transit-style van.”

“It is reported that the red van indicated to turn left onto Kieran Close, at which point it is believed that the Citroen pulled out onto Rotherham Road.”

“The Yamaha reportedly began to overtake the van, when it came into collision with the Citroen.”

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle, sustaining two broken ankles, and was taken to Rotherham Hospital. The driver of the Citroen was not injured.
