Police campaign targets speeding Sprotbrough motorists

Over the last four months over 200 motorists were issued with warning notices which advised them about the need to slow down in a built up area.

Two motorists were issued with fixed penalty notices which included a £100 fine and three penalty points on their driving license. One motorist was also detained for possession of drugs.

Residents had raised concerns with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team that the 30mph speed limit was being ignored by road users. Responding to these concerns officers used hand held devices to check the speed of vehicles which travelled along Spring Lane in order to tackle the issue.

Officers would like to remind motorists that, unless otherwise stated, where street lights are present the roads have a 30mph limit and enforcement activity will continue to take place to reduce the risk of collisions within residential areas.
