Police dog under investigation over second alleged incident

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has confirmed it is ‘investigating two complaints relating to the same Lincolnshire Police dog.

A spokesman said: “The IPCC received two complaint referrals from the force, one relating to the dog biting a member of the public in the Moulton Marsh area on February 27, and another incident where it is alleged to have bitten another dog near Fishtoft on February 29.”

PD Falco had his operational licence removed by the dog unit at Leicestershire while the incident in Fishtoft was investigated.

Police have previously confirmed an incident happened at around 10.35pm on Monday February 29, after an East Midlands Operational Support Service Dog Handler parked a marked police dog van in an isolated location on the private road owned by the Drainage Board, near Fishtoft, in order to exercise his police dog.

They said the officer was unaware that a local man and his dog were approaching them in the dark, and the man’s dog was bitten by the police dog.

Although the officer immediately escorted the man and his dog to a local vet, the man’s dog was later put down due to its injuries.

Due to the IPCC referal Lincolnshire Police are unable to comment on the circumstances of the Moulton Marsh incident.
