At about 11.30am on Thursday, a blue Volkswagen polo is believed to have been driving on Hickman Hill when it hit the wrought iron fence. The car then drove off and swerved onto the pavement again, narrowly avoiding a pedestrian with a pram.

The car has been recovered but police have not yet been able to trace the driver as the vehicle was recently sold. Enquiries are on-going to trace the new owner.
