Police hunt for van thieves who injured council worker

Police are hunting two young men who stole a van and ran over a council worker in Worksop last week.

It happened when a 40-year-old Notts County Council worker was carrying out street light repairs at the roundabout junction in Netherton Road, Manton, at around 9.55am on Friday 19th August.

A yellow council-owned transit van was parked at a nearby central reservation when two men, who were in their late teens or early twenties, attempted to steal the vehicle.

He suffered injuries to his legs when the van drove over them and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment.

He has since been discharged but is still receiving ongoing treatment for his injuries.

The stolen van was found abandoned in the Prospect area of Worksop later the same day.
