Police release names of two killed in Easter Monday collision on A15

A police spokesman announced Barbara Tunnicliffe, 59, from Heckington, and Roger Burman, 63, from Navenby, both died as a result of the collision.

The incident happened shortly after 10am on Monday.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said the collision took place approximately half a mile south of the Cranwell turning and involved a green Volkswagen Golf travelling towards Sleaford and a silver Vauxhall Astra going towards Lincoln.

She said the driver of the Golf, Mr Burman, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a woman aged 58, received serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital where she remains in Queen’s medical Centre, Nottingham in a very poorly condition.

The driver of the Astra, a local man aged 63, was seriously injured and is also very poorly in QMC. His passenger, Barbara Tunnicliffe, was said to have died shortly after the collision.

Relatives have now been informed.

This brings the total number of deaths on Lincolnshire’s roads to 18 so far this year, compared to six at the same point in 2015.

The road was closed for nearly eight hours while emergency services, followed by crash investigators were on the scene. Fire crews from Sleaford, Billinghay and Metheringham were involved in cutting three of the casualties from the wreckage.

The Serious Collision Team are appealing for any witnesses who saw the green VW Golf or the silver Astra travelling prior to the collision.
