Police update after woman's body recovered from Covenham Reservoir

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed this morning (Monday) that the woman whose body was found in Covenham Reservoir at the weekend lived in the local area. Her next of kin have been informed of her death, and the matter has been passed to the coroner.

A body has been recovered from Covenham Reservoir this morning (Saturday), according to local media reports.

The body - understood to be that of an elderly woman - was reportedly spotted 'floating in the water' earlier today.

Police and other emergency service personnel attended the scene following the tragic discovery this morning.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "We attended Covenham Reservoir following a report of a body in the water at around 9.55am today.

"The body is believed to be that of a woman in her 70s. Identification is yet to take place."

The sad news comes just days after warnings from the local fire service, Anglian Water, and the Covenham Water Sports Association about the potential risks at the site.
